Avaaz is growing! We are looking to fill an Executive Assistant (EA) position supporting a Campaign Director, based in Palestine, whose work focuses mainly on campaigns defending Palestinian rights, protecting democracies against cyber threats, and leading Middle East and North Africa related campaigns. 

Our ideal candidate will provide excellent administrative, logistical, and campaigning support to the Director working on a variety of workstreams. The Director needs someone who can manage a complicated matrix of responsibilities, help advance high-level advocacy relationships and maintain the flow of a complicated workstream and agenda. The EA position will also help lead logistical work to support public actions, and monitor the Director’s inbox and calendar without letting any emails slip by unnoticed or meetings go unattended. This assistant needs to be a logistics guru, able to effectively manage events, build strong relations with individuals, and support the Director through their day and stay on track of shifting priorities. 

Responsibilities

- Logistical support such as helping plan events, organizing high-level meetings, and coordinating public actions. 
- Monitoring the Director’s inbox, organizing their priorities and keeping them on task through each day;
- Conducting research, fact-checking, proofreading and assist preparing briefings as requested;
- Assisting the Director in performing management functions for a global team.
- Providing significant administrative and personal support;
- Organizing schedules, meetings, travel, and logistics
- Facilitating quick and easy communication between the Director and the rest of the team;
- Supporting in building advocacy relationships with communities across Palestine and the Middle East. 
- Designing and implementing systems to improve efficiency and accountability within the team;
- Managing and coordinating with the Operations team to ensure legal and policy compliance;
- Providing campaigns support as needed, including research and email blast copy editing; 

Preferred Experience and Knowledge:

- 3+ years experience supporting senior directors or department leads, ideally within the NGO sector
- Experience in coordinating high-level meetings and public events

- Demonstrated ability to retrieve, analyze, and synthesize information gathered from varied sources.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic are required. 

Location

This position is remote and should be based in Palestine, ideally Ramallah/El-Bireh or Jerusalem. Avaaz is a global virtual organization, with most of our work done over email, telephone, and Skype. 

Compensations and Benefits 

Salary varies with location and experience, and is highly competitive with leading international nongovernmental organizations. Specific benefits also range with location, but all include 5 weeks paid vacation per year, 10 paid holidays, phone and home internet reimbursement, out-of-home office/co-working reimbursement, and professional development funds.
